C3BM seeks civilian talent to advance DAF Battle Network

The Department of the Air Force Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management is seeking civilian candidates during a month-long digital hiring event, featuring careers focused on modernizing command and control systems across the defense enterprise.

Interested candidates must submit resumes and supporting documentation through the official application portal at https://afciviliancareers.com/C3BM/ between Oct. 5 and Nov. 5.

The PAE’s mission is to deliver an integrated DAF Battle Network, the system-of-systems connecting sensor, effector, and logistics systems providing better situational awareness, faster operational decisions and decisive direction to the force.

“These positions play a decisive role in delivering the capabilities warfighters depend on,” said Kate Nelson, DAF PAE C3BM director. “If you’re ready to do hard things, and make a real difference in national security, you’re who we’re looking for.”

Within C3BM, civilian professionals work across several high-demand career fields, with positions available at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass.; Robins AFB, Georgia; and Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Available positions include:

Acquisition program management, acquisition test management, contracting, financial management, engineers and scientists, IT, logistics and security.

Program and test managers lead cross-functional acquisition strategies balancing cost, schedule, and performance, while engineers, scientists, and IT specialists design resilient architectures, networks, and data integration frameworks.

Contracting and financial specialists secure industry partnerships and execute critical resources, while logisticians and security specialists oversee life-cycle support and protect vital defense technologies.

Unlike traditional in-person job fairs, the digital hiring event is conducted entirely through an online intake process. Selected candidates will participate in virtual interviews conducted on an ongoing basis throughout the open announcement window.

Applicants must submit a resume of no more than two pages detailing professional experience and contact information. Submissions should also include unofficial or official college transcripts, an SF-50 for current or federal employees, and a DD Form 214 (member copy 2 or 4) for military veterans, if applicable.

C3BM is the integrating entity for command, control, communications and battle management within the department, aligning technical architecture and acquisition authorities to execute its efforts to streamline the delivery of decision advantage capabilities. To drive rapid capability delivery and cut through bureaucratic hurdles, C3BM leadership anchors the workforce around three operational core values: Ruthless Focus, Violent Execution, and Extreme Teaming.

“Our core values transform every challenge you face. We’re not ordinary around here,” Nelson said. “Come be extraordinary.”

C3BM professionals oversee major modernization programs, including deployable communications infrastructure, cloud-based tactical applications, and the software pipelines that accelerate programs such as the Advanced Battle Management System. Their efforts ensure warfighters receive capabilities at the speed of relevance.

Successful applicants will join the 170,000-member Air Force Civilian Service, receiving comprehensive federal civil service benefits, continuing education opportunities, and specialized career progression across national defense programs.
